Whitney J. Grout is an attorney originally from Fremont, Indiana where she grew up on Snow Lake. Whitney graduated Fremont High School with an Academic Honors Diploma in 2005.
Upon her high school graduation, Whitney attended Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI). Whitney graduated in 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. During her undergraduate education, Whitney worked as an aide to the Director of Resource Development at Indiana Legal Services, Inc. She also volunteered as a Research Assistant for the IUPUI Psychology Department and was an active executive board member of various student groups. She was a volunteer for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Indiana, mentoring her “little” from elementary school until her mentee’s college graduation. Whitney was an honored recipient of the William M. Plater Civic Engagement Medallion at graduation in recognition of her leadership and volunteer efforts during her undergraduate career.
After graduating from IUPUI, Whitney worked for LVMH’s Sephora in various roles before establishing herself as a Talent and Business and Operations Exempt Manager. She worked at Sephora for over ten years and was recognized for her operational excellence on multiple occasions. She was recruited and transferred to the Sephora Georgetown location in Washington, D.C. where she worked faithfully before returning to the Greenwood, Indiana Sephora. Whitney assisted in business, client service, and people development initiatives and successfully implemented Classes for Confidence to assist cancer patients and survivors of domestic violence.
In 2019, Whitney attended the Robert H. McKinney School of Law to pursue her life-long dream of becoming a Lawyer. While pursuing her law degree, Whitney completed externships at the Indiana Office of the Vice President and General Counsel’s Wills and Advanced Directives Program, The Center for At-Risk Elders, the Marion County Public Defender Agency, and the Re- Entry Assistance and Community Help Clinic, a Clinic that is in partnership with the Southern District of Indiana. She was a Teacher and Research Assistant for the Re-Entry Assistance and Community Help Clinic, as well as President of the Second Chance Re-Entry Assistance Program, and on the Executive Board of the Underrepresented Professional and Graduate Student Group of IUPUI. Whitney mentored undergraduate students in the Pathway to Law program, and mentored incoming first-year law students at Robert H. McKinney School of Law. During law school, Whitney worked at the Indiana University School of Law’s Office of Enrollment Management where she guided new and prospective students on their law school application journey. Whitney graduated with a Doctorate in Jurisprudence and Certificate in Criminal Law. She was recognized for her extensive pro bono work and upon graduation was a recipient of the Norman Lefstein Award of Excellence at the Gold level for completing more than 200+ hours of pro bono work.
Whitney began Interning with Sprunger & Sprunger in Spring of 2022 and relocated to Northern Indiana in March of 2023. After her successful passage of the Indiana Bar Exam, Whitney accepted an attorney position with Sprunger & Sprunger. Whitney’s primary practice areas include Criminal and Family law. She is based out of the Sprunger & Sprunger Waynedale office and is excited to serve the clients of her hometown in Steuben County, as well as the clients in the surrounding counties.
In addition to her role as an attorney, Whitney continues to serve as a volunteer for license reinstatement initiatives with Thomas Ridley’s 1 Like Me. In her free time, Whitney enjoys spending time on Snow Lake and Lake James with her friends and family and is passionate about senior dog rescue, community involvement, and mentorship opportunities.
