Education

Cory is an Eagle Scout who graduated from the United States Senate Page School in Washington, D.C. in 2006, and then returned to South Adams High School in Berne to graduate in 2007. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from the John Wesley Honors College at Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Indiana, in 2011 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Pre-Law/Political Science. Following his undergraduate education, Cory graduated from Pepperdine University School of Law in Malibu, California, with a Doctorate of Jurisprudence and certificates in Criminal Law and Alternative Dispute Resolution.

While in Law School, Cory worked in the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Major Crimes Unit, the Grant County Prosecutor’s Office, and for the Honorable Samuel Der-Yeghiayan, federal judge, in downtown Chicago. While in law school Cory competed on Pepperdine’s nationally ranked Trial Team, as well as their International Moot Court Team in London, United Kingdom.

Political Involvement

Cory has always enjoyed and felt a calling for public service. Prior to law school, Cory worked in the White House in Washington, D.C. for President George W. Bush, at the Republican National Committee for Chairman Michael Steele, in the United States Senate for Senator Richard Lugar, in the Governor’s Office for Governor Mitch Daniel, and on multiple national campaigns. Cory was the Adams County Republican Party Treasurer in 2016 and remains active in local politics, he is currently a councilman on the Adams County Council.

Community Involvement

Cory and Allison intentionally chose to move back to Berne after living in Malibu, Los Angeles, Chicago, Washington, D.C., and London because they believe in the value and quality of life offered here in the rural heartland. Because of this belief, Cory has chosen to serve this local community in the following ways:

  • President of Genesis Legal and Life Aid Clinic
  • Volunteer for the Boy Scouts of America, Troop 67

  • Worship Team at First Mennonite Church
